As of yesterday I think everything has been done on my end that will make this whole home renovation/camper process happen. I am so excited!!
I will say…this is something I’ve been talking about for at least 3 or 4 years now. (I’m the world’s worst procrastinator, by the way.) Truthfully, when I went to the bank I told myself I was only going to talk to someone and get a solid idea of what my options were.
Did you get that first part though? YEARS!! I’ve been talking about doing this for years! And I want to go talk about it with someone. No action, people. Talk.
Before I realized it the loan officer was printing things and pulling out papers, asking me for a list, talking to co-workers. In all honesty, when she started working up the paperwork I had to fight off the urge to say, “Woah, lady! I’m not ready for a relationship!! Can we just get a drink first???”
Red lights were flashing and sirens were sounding… Commitment free zone!! Danger, danger!! Mayday!!

You insane woman. It’s only been 4 years! How’s a girl supposed to be ready in four years?
*sigh*
It’s better now. I’ve calmed down, done breathing exercises. All is well.
On a positive note, it’s the best feeling when you’re trying to do something and it seems like things are working in your favor, isn’t it? It’s like a confirmation you’re going in the right direction.
Well, as of last week all my paperwork was complete and aside from having pictures of my house taken for bank records I was just waiting for closing. On Friday afternoon as I’m driving home from work I got a call from my loan officer. She’d just seen where the rate I was locked in at (the one at the time she commented “it won’t change anyway, but we have to get it for the records”) had dropped and she needed me to update my paperwork so I could get the lower rate!!
This new rate lowers my payment by a little over $20 per month. How fantastic is that?!?! It’s not the biggest drop from a monthly basis, but I always say every little bit helps!!
So my updated paperwork with my fancy new rate is all complete now and the lady came to take pictures of the house this week for bank records. As far as I know that’s everything but closing!
This thing is finally happening!!
On the camper front, I have 18 prospects saved online that fit within the parameters of what I’m looking for. Price, size, style. I even have two very favorites picked out of the 18 now – one 5th wheel and one pull behind.
I’m going to wait on purchasing a truck until after the first of the year, but I’ve been having some concern about this whole 1/2 ton verses 3/4 ton deal. All along (in my land of imagination where I create my best non-factual scenarios) I would have either a Toyota Tundra (below left) or a Nissan Titan (below right). Wouldn’t you know it, now that I’m speaking to actual people about this they’re telling me I should probably go with a 3/4 ton truck.
Two things….#1, Toyota nor Nissan makes a 3/4 ton truck. #2, I priced 3/4 ton trucks online once for a good five minutes at one dealership and $40k was the cheapest one I found. Between you and me….that ain’t happening.
So, just a wee bit of anxiety.
However, yesterday I ended up finding some decent used 3/4 ton trucks in the $30k range and some even less than that. I’m going to mark this in the ‘things working in my favor’ category along with the rate drop and call it success.
Not only is this happening, but it might also work out really well!!
This is so exciting!!! Yay for things working out!!
